The most popular fishing destination near Skiatook is Skiatook Lake. This beautiful manmade lake is situated on Highway 20, around 4 miles west of town. It is elevated approximately 710 feet above sea level, and its water surface covers an area of 10,500 acres. The lake is surrounded by 160 miles of meandering shoreline, which consists of blackjack and post oak forests, steep bluffs, tall grass prairies, and a number of beaches. It provides excellent opportunities for both inshore and out-shore fishing.

When the Skiatook Lake was formed, only a small portion of its surrounding land was cleared. As such, the lake has enough trees to provide ample cover and it offers the ideal natural habitat for the number one game fish in the country – the largemouth bass. Its blackjack trees create a highly impenetrable cover, making it possible for multitudes of fish to live in an undisturbed environment. As such, Skiatook Lake is widely regarded as one of the best bass fishing destinations in the country. Whether you choose to fish at the deep main body or the flats in the upper parts of the lake, you can be assured that you will have a rewarding fishing experience.Fishing in Skiatook Lake Oklahoma
